The Wayne State University School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education invites child welfare workers, family preservation workers, foster care workers and adoption services to attend one of our specialized child welfare trainings

Led by NASW-MI Program Manager and Private Therapist Adijat Ogunyemi, DSW, LMSW, this training will discuss how substance use disorders and mental illness affect millions of Americans. The impact of COVID-19 has made these disorders more prevalent throughout the country. This training aims to provide clinicians with education on substance use prevention, assessment, and treatment as a means to combat this social issue that negatively impacts our communities. Attendees will utilize exercises, small and large group discussions, and visual displays during this training.

As a result of this training, attendees will: 

  • Understand risk factors for developing substance use disorders.
  • Increase awareness of available assessment tools.
  • Understand the high rate of comorbidity between substance use disorders and other mental illnesses.

Attendees can obtain 3 CE's upon completion of the training, payment receipt and passing of the post-training quiz. Seating is limited and preference will be given to child welfare workers.  

All attendees must RSVP by November 2, 2022 for this training. Attendees will receive the Zoom link upon completion of the RSVP.
